Hey, time is just flying by, ain't it?! I love October; I think it's my favorite month of the year.
I'm amazed at how much life can change in a year, or more directly, how much I've changed in a year. Last year, by moving away from home, friends, fiance' and familiarity, grad school became a bit of an obsession and comfort for me. (Granted, it was never comfortable or certain, but it was the reason I was getting up in the morning.) Now, after I've gotten married, am living with my husband, have a group of friendships established and know how to get around the city, I'm finding that grad school has almost taken a back seat! Of course I'm doing the work, going to classes and completing all the assignments, but it's no longer "my life" here ... and somehow, that makes a world of difference.
Honestly, I'm surprised; this feels unexpected. I wasn't aware of how much I sunk myself into school last year in order to distract myself from all the transitions I was going through. In hindsight, I'm so glad to be at this point, today. I love being married to my husband; I love the new friends I have; I love the career I'm studying myself into.
Hard to believe how far my life has come in just a year.
