An ode to New Hampshire.

Wow, almost two months since I've written. I've learned that I have a lot less to say now that I'm acutely aware of how little I know; you can't imagine the amount of humble-pie I've had to swallow.

I attend a Lutheran church here & we say a Lord's Prayer that says "forgive my trespasses as I've forgiven those who trespass against me." This is becoming my favorite verson simply because trespasses make me think of trespassing, which makes me think of boundaries & how often, during a day, I, and others, cross that "line" drawn so trepidly in the sand around our sense of self & safety & personal well-being.

The New Hampshire license plate states "Live free or die." Say this outloud to yourself; it's such a strong, convicted, passionate statement. This phrase stirs such a great response from me; if only we held true to that when it came to self-care, self-desire, those personal hopes & dreams we stifle "just a day or two more" as we take care of the never-ending responsibilities of life.

Tis' the season to be thankful. I'm thankful I'm learning, albeit slowly, just to keep my mouth shut when I think I know what's best or what's true for the other.
